Congratulations to Dr. Brygg Ullmer for his ACM UIST: "Lasting
Impact" award.
The Department of Computer Science is very pleased to inform
that Dr.Brygg Ullmer was awarded the ACM UIST conference's
Lasting Impact award on October 7, 2009, on the basis of his first
authored 1997 paper there (on the metaDESK, an early
tangible + multitouch interactive tabletop system).
The conference byline is "UIST (ACM Symposium on
User Interface Software and Technology) is the premier
forum for innovations in the software and technology of
human-computer interfaces." The conference has been held
yearly for the past 21 years. This is the seventh year of Lasting
Impact awards.
Last year's award was to Prof. Randy Pausch
of CMU (alas, perhaps best known to the general public for
his Last Lecture, before his far-too-early passing).
