Title: Fast Scalable Techniques for Large Particle System Walkthrough
Abstract:
A framework has been developed for interactive walkthrough involving billion particles in
immersive and interactive virtual environment to enable interrogative visualization of large
atomistic simulation data. The framework is based on four key techniques: i) adaptive
data compression based on space-filling curves; ii) octree-based visibility and occlusion
culling; iii) predictive caching based on machine learning; and iv) scalable data reduction
based on parallel and distributed processing.
This visualization framework will be applicable not only to material simulation, but also
to broader areas including computational biology, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering
and nanotechnology.
