Title: Web-based Advance Request Campus Transit System with Time windows

Abstract:
This project is an implementation of a Campus Transit system with some extra constraints. A Campus Transit system is a demand responsive transportation system. There is a set of customers who request a vehicle operating agency to be picked up from a given location and to be delivered to another given location within a campus. This project presents a web-based solution of the problem in which the requests for rides are made over the Internet. The requests can be made only by authorized users that are defined to be enrolled in the given institution. The requests have to be made one day in advance such that the scheduling of the vehicles takes place only after all the requests have been submitted. Once all the requests are received, the system computes the best schedule for each of the customers to be picked up and dropped. After the computation of the schedules, each of the customers is notified about the expected pick up and delivery time. The aim is to minimize customer dissatisfaction in terms of their waiting time. The system ensures that the waiting time of any given customer does not exceed a pre-specified limit.
