Abstract:
The Cyber-infrastructure of Reconfigurable Optical Networks (CRON) Testbed at Louisiana State University (LSU) is the first 10 Gbps high speed Ethernet emulation testbed in the computer networking research community. It provides a Cloud Computing style service to help users establish a large variety of network topologies for researches and experiments. The NetFPGA is an open source, inexpensive hardware platform which is the underlying infrastructure for all kinds of network components involving Ethernet frame forwarding. It enables many innovative applications with its hardware acceleration capability. The OpenFlow Switch is a highly extensible flow-based Ethernet forwarding device which greatly reduces the complexity for directing traffic. It introduces a uniform control interface to Ethernet forwarding devices as well. In this project, I integrate the NetFPGA-1G version and the OpenFlow Switch into the LSU CRON Testbed in order to give the full control on all network components in an Ethernet experiment network to users. After the integration, I evaluate the performance for those new components with various networking environmental parameters.

All are invited.
